It was great to see so many of you last night at Curriculum Night! Your child is taking home a curriculum packet today with an overview of the fifth grade curriculum.
Curriculum topics:
- Place value
- Reading with power
- Writing personal narrative
- Building classroom community
Some activities we did this week:
- Used the place value chart to convert numbers
- Read, wrote and compared decimals to the thousandths place
- Participated in "The Candy Rush" with 5S
- Logged in and tried out IXL
- Wrote out "I am" poems using the 5 senses
- Discussed and practiced making positive and meaningful comments on blog posts
- Brainstormed special people and places in our lives
- Thought of strong emotions and wrote about times we experienced them
- Met with our second grade reading buddies for the first time
- Began typing practice on Typing Pal
