5V News

What a great first week we have had!  We have been having fun getting to know each other and the classroom routines and expectations.  Thank you for your cooperation in getting all of the parent paperwork returned!

Here are some activities we did this week:

• Listened to Chrysanthemum and made name tags 
• Played games!  (The warm wind blows, four corners and two truths and a lie)
• Read The Colors of Us and painted self-portraits 
• Learned a lot about each other from our Artifact Museum
• Challenged ourselves with team building activities like spaghetti and marshmallows and card towers 
• Created top ten lists about ourselves 
• Began using our Chromebooks and discussed what being 1:1 means
• Discussed digital citizenship and our digital footprint

We have been using Digital Passport to learn about the components of digital citizenship and Edmodo as our online classroom.  Please check out the websites and ask your child about them!

Six Day Schedule

We had a great first day in 5V!  We are just beginning to get to know each other and the classroom routines and expectations.

SMS is on a six day schedule this year and our schedule is as follows:
Day 1 (yellow)- Computer
Day 2 (green)- PE
Day 3 (orange)- Art
Day 4 (red)- Library
Day 5 (tan)- Music
Day 6 (blue)-PE (eventually band and chorus, also)

Students are welcome to leave a pair of sneakers for PE in the classroom.  Please let me know if you have any questions and look for another post at the end of the week.  Thanks!
